A Mom’s Guide to Starting a Business in 2023 part 1

As I settled into adult life, I found myself stuck in a 9-5 job, feeling underpaid and underappreciated. That all changed when I became a mom.

Faced with the prospect of returning to work and leaving my precious baby in someone else’s care, I decided to stay home and raise him myself. I became a serial entrepreneur, dabbling in various businesses such as network marketing, multilevel marketing, and even selling succulent arrangements (until I realized I had a black thumb). While I was making a decent income and enjoying the satisfaction of running a home-based daycare, I still felt like something was missing.

One day, I came across a couple on social media who were living the laptop lifestyle I had always dreamed of. They were making a big impact on people’s lives while also enjoying financial success. I knew I wanted more for myself and my family. I wanted to empower other moms like me to have the option to stay home with their children and still make a living. That’s why I decided to take the leap and start my own online business. It wasn’t easy, but with hard work and determination, I was able to turn my dream into a reality. Now, I’m grateful to be able to work from home, make a difference in people’s lives, and provide for my family all at the same time.

Starting a business can be a daunting task, especially for moms who may have limited time and resources. However, with the right planning and support, it’s possible for moms to successfully start and grow their own businesses.

Here are a few tips for moms who are interested in starting a business in 2023:

  1. Identify your strengths and passions: The first step in starting a business is to identify your strengths and passions. This will help you determine what type of business is right for you and will be most rewarding.
  2. Create a business plan: A business plan is a roadmap that outlines the steps you need to take to achieve your business goals. It should include details about your target market, your products or services, and your marketing and financial plans.
  3. Seek out support and resources: Starting a business can be a challenging and lonely process, so it’s important to seek out support and resources to help you along the way. This can include networking with other entrepreneurs, joining online or in-person business groups, or hiring a business coach or mentor.
  4. Build a network: Building a network of supportive colleagues, mentors, and advisors can be invaluable as you navigate the challenges of starting a business. This can help you get valuable feedback, find new customers, and get advice and support as you grow your business.
  5. Stay organized: As a mom and a business owner, you will have a lot of responsibilities, so it’s important to stay organized to ensure you don’t get overwhelmed. This can include setting clear goals and priorities, creating a schedule, and using tools like task lists and calendars to stay on track.
  6. Take care of yourself: Starting a business can be demanding, so make sure to take care of yourself both physically and mentally. This includes getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and taking breaks when needed.

Overall, starting a business as a mom can be a rewarding and challenging experience. With the right planning, support, and organization, it’s possible to successfully start and grow a business that aligns with your passions and strengths.
